Experience

Having retired from private solicitor’s practice in 1984, Andrew now sits regularly as an arbitrator under ARIAS and ad hoc agreements and he is happy to sit as wing, chair or sole arbitrator.

He litigated, arbitrated and resolved countless re/insurance disputes since 1986 and clients included large multi-nationals, Lloyd’s syndicates, major re/insurers and alphabet brokers. He was lead partner in important market test cases involving the Exxon Valdez oil spill (King-v-Brandywine) and the Kuwait invasion (Scott-v-Copenhagen Re) LMX reinsurance aggregation issues and in the first WTC 9/11 reinsurance aggregation case (Aioi v Heraldglen), amongst many others.

Chambers/Legal 500 described him as an “Elder statesperson” and “leading light” with “unparalleled experience” who “received constant praise by clients for continued excellence over many years as a leading lawyer…at the pinnacle of the profession“, “a real expert” and “real specialist” who “excels in reinsurance“.
